ACPO Vice-president and Chief Constable of West Yorkshire resigns

I've posted on my Hillsborough: What is the truth? blog about the resignation of Norman Bettison as Chief Constable of West Yorkshire.

See Hillsborough: What is the truth? - Sir Norman Bettison resigns .

I very much welcome his resignation.

This morning the Association of Chief Police Officers had three vice-presidents, two of whom I believed to be dishonest Police officers.

Those vice-presidents whom I believed to be dishonest were Sir Norman Bettison and Sara Thornton.

One has gone. One, inappropriately in my view, remains in post.

For how much longer I wonder.

Lockerbie: Another case where the Police were cheating us?

A group of concerned citizens has asked the Scottish Government to inquire into whether the Police and the judiciary may have perverted the course of justice with respect to the Lockerbie disaster.

See The Lockerbie Case.

Not suprisingly, the Scottish Government in its reply evaded the key issues in the matter. Included in the reply was the suggestion that any such concerns be reported to the Police.

Those who have been involved in trying to establish the truth about the suspicious death of David Kelly and about the Hillsborough disaster are well aware of how futile a course of action that can prove to be.

It has taken 23 years for the truth about Police corruption, with respect to Hillsborough, in the South Yorkshire and West Midlands forces to become public knowledge.

After almost 10 years the truth about the death of David Kelly remains concealed, in no small part due to Police corruption in Thames Valley Police aided and abetted by a Law Lord (Lord Hutton) and an Attorney General (Dominic Grieve QC MP).

Hillsborough: It's accepted that the Police were cheating us

With the publication of the report of the Hillsborough Indepdent Panel, Hillsborough Independent Panel. Disclosed Material and Report, it is now widely accepted that South Yorkshire Police conducted a criminal conspiracy to conceal the truth about the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

See, for example, the House of Commons debate on the Hillsborough Independent Panel report which took place on 22nd October 2012: House of Commons Hansard 22 October 2012 (pt 0001).

Further, it seems highly likely that West Midlands Police were party to a conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

A fundamental question that requires further public examination is whether individual Police officers similarly conceal and fabricate evidence on a smaller scale on an "as needed" basis.

In other words why should the Public and the courts trust evidence from any Police officer?

I intend to examine a range of questions on a new blog, Hillsborough: What is the truth?. The questions to be examined go much wider than simply whether or not trust in the Police is or is not merited.

Some of the issues I hope to examine are set out in the initial post on the Hillsborough: What is the truth?" blog. See the initial post here: The purpose of the Hillsborough: What is the Truth? blog .
